Before I can start to make my magazine page, it would be sensible to decide on the films I want to include so that I can have the reviews written before I start the Photoshop process and then I can just copy, paste and format the articles accordingly to fit the layout of the page. My Cineworld membership means that I have watched recent releases in cinemas such as Rogue One and Assassin's Creed, and so this will help add a current and up to date status to my page if I am reviewing films that are recent and contemporary.
With my own film included this means that I now have 3 to review and use on my magazine, but my flat plans had been drawn up to accommodate 4 films, so I am going to make sure that I see another film at the cinema.
The current listings at my local cinema are showing:
- La La land
- Silence
- A Monster Calls
- Manchester By the Sea (due for release soon)
- Hacksaw Ridge (due for release soon)
Having read the reviews for all of these films, each one of them has been getting raving praise from critics and so any of them could add an acclaimed review (of the films I am intending to use I wouldn't rate any of them as perfect) to my batch of films. Unfortunately the showings for Silence and A Monster Calls are limited now to once a day so the chances of seeing them are unlikely due to commitments at school, and I would rather not prolong the progress on my blog whilst I wait for Hacksaw Ridge and Manchester By the Sea (even though I am quite confident they will both be brilliant) to be released, so I am going to choose La La Land as my last review.
La La Land has been given a lot up hype building up to its release and the amount of award nominations it is speculated to have garnered suggests that it is worth watching. Also, it is said to be a unique film and so it will add variety to the assortment of films I have chosen to review.
My Films to Reviews:
- Shades of Reason (My own short film)
- Assassin's Creed
- Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
- La La Land
Whilst I spare some time to watch La La Land and start to work on the other reviews, my next blog posts will be my thought process for coming up with a name for the magazine and also finding some shots of the films to accompany the reviews.
